The Max Planck Research Group for Rationality Enhancement (head: Dr. Falk Lieder) at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen is looking for student research assistants (m/f/d) to support ongoing research projects related to cognitive growth, goal setting, attention control, cognitive tutors, and cognitive prostheses.
The positions focus on programming and software development and include a broad spectrum of tasks, such as the implementation of web-based experiments, mobile apps, or desktop applications, data management and pre-processing, machine learning, and computational modeling. On this account, they offer excellent learning opportunities across all stages of the model-based development of computational tools for enhancing effectiveness, self-improvement, and cognitive growth.
What we are looking for
Applicants should have a strong background in a relevant subject such as computer science, AI, cognitive modeling or machine learning and solid skills in at least one of the following areas:
- Software development and testing in Python
Additional competencies in mobile app development for iOS or Android and/or computational modeling and machine learning are not expected but would be a plus.
Enrollment at a German university is mandatory for a student research assistant contract with the Max Planck Society. The monthly employment is negotiable and can be up to max. 83 hours/month. We usually start with an initial contract duration of six month with the possibility of an extension.
